Rio Carnival Parade Order for 2027

Still 9 months to go, but following the draw by LIESA – Liga Independente das Escolas de Samba do RJ on Thursday, 16 April 2026, we now know the order that the top 12 samba schools in Rio de Janeiro, the Grupo Especial, will parade during carnival in 2027. Four schools will parade on each of three nights.

Rio Carnival Parade Order in 2026

In 2026 the main parades of the Grupo Especial in Rio de Janeiro’s carnival are scheduled to take place on the nights of Sunday, 15 February; Monday, 16 February; and Tuesday, 17 February. After its introduction and success in 2025, the 12 schools will again parade over three nights. The order for the parades was decided on 12 April 2025 and will be:

Mangueira Champion of Rio’s 2019 Carnival

Estação Primeira de Mangueira is the champion of Rio’s top samba schools for the 20th time in its illustrious history after scoring a perfect total of 270 in 2019. Second, with 269.7 points, was Viraduro who have only just returned to the elite competition.
