Julien Temple’s Rio 50 Degrees premieres in the UK on BBC 1

Julien_photo_bJulien Temple’s “Rio 50 Degrees” (AKA: Children of the Revolution) will premiere and screen in the UK as the first episode of Alan Yentob’s Imagine series at 22.30 on BBC One on Sunday, 18 May.

The film, produced by Mike Downey and Sam Taylor’s F&ME and Roberto Berliner and Rodrigo Letier’s TV Zero and based on an original idea by Critical Divide’s Christopher Pickard, paints a picture of a city under transformation as Rio de Janeiro prepares to host two of the world’s largest and most high-profile sporting events: the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games.

Julien Temple had filmed previously in Rio with the Sex Pistols, Ronnie Biggs and Mick Jagger.

New international terminal opens at São Paulo Guarulhos Airport

SP T3The new international Terminal 3 has opened at São Paulo’s main Guarulhos Airport that is located close to Arena de São Paulo where the opening game of the 2014 World Cup will take place on 12 June.

The first airlines to move into the new 12 million capacity terminal – that has 20 gates – were TAP and Lufthansa on 12 May. They were to be followed by six further international carriers in the coming three weeks.

After the World Cup another 17 companies will move into the new terminal with the Brazilian carrier, TAM, the last to move in September 2014. At that point, further modernisation will take place at terminals One and Two.

By 2022 the entire airport is expected to have doubled its current annual capacity to 60 million passengers.

Meanwhile, Brazil’s Lidio Carraro Boutique Winery was selected to create the Official Licensed Wine of the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014.

The line Face FIFA World Cup reflects “Brazilian ethnical and cultural diversity translated into wine”, the company says, with grapes from the most representative terroirs of Brazil.

Brazil the Guide tops Google ranking for the 2014 World Cup

This site, braziltheguide.com, has topped the Google ranking for people in the UK searching for a guide to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, while its sister site, worldcuptheguide.com, was ranked third out of 549 million search results.

Due to the interest in the sites a basic Kindle text version of both sites will shortly be available on Amazon and published by M Press Media.
